You mention Peter Zezel and leave out his huge cameo in Youngblood with Steve Thomas?

Any chatter that Connor McClennon doesn't want to sign here?

Huge write up on Jimmy Mont, Bill must know something.....

So what we complaining about today?

Risto?
Provorov?
Fletcher?
Hextall?

How about this....What player/players do you think are not on the roster when the season begins?

Nate Thompson
Zac MacEwen
Kevin Connauton
Keith Yandle
Martin Jones

Seriously though. I think JVR is still on the roster at the beginning of the season.

With this GM I have no idea to be honest. I will exclude the free agents to be.

I think he moves one of Ivan or Sanheim. Also wont be shocked if Zamula and Frost are dealt.

See i don't see any defenders moving. I actually think the other way where you could see forwards moved.

I could see Konecny and Lindblom moved. Possibly JVR.

How about this. Would Kevin Hayes waive his NMC to go to Boston and be closer to home if Bergeron retires or moves on?

I'd keep him on the roster until trade deadline. I wouldn't buy him out our trade picks to get rid of him.

I don't know. they still have an older group of forwards like Marchand, Hall, Coyle that have some term yet. Maybe they feel they have about a year or two if they can replace Bergeron, if he moves on, before they then need to retool there roster.

It was just a thought. I know the odds are probably low on that.

Hey Bill,
Any idea where Giroux might go? I only saw parts of the Florida playoffs, but he looked pretty effective.
He's no journeyman Jagr or Thornton --seems to know where he wants to be, and Florida doesn't have the money to keep him, even if they find a taker for Hornqvist.
Any thoughts of where he'd want to go?

Konecny.

I pretty much had Sanheim pegged for being traded this offseason but he may have played into them wanting to keep him. I will say, if they can't extend him this summer they need to trade him now and not let him walk as a UFA. Wouldn't be surprised with major changes on defense.

Good chance on Frost being gone too, imo.

good read...

Where do you start? Hard to imagine this job appeals to the high-end free agent coaches like Trotz, DeBoer or Tocchet even though Tocchet has a long history with the club, because there are lots more attractive openings. In fact, one long-time NHL executive and former player noted that it’s shocking that of all the openings the Flyers would be easily the least desirable. “That’s not good. At all,” the observer said.

This is a critical hire for Fletcher (duh, really?) and after Hextall’s experiment with long-time collegiate coach Dave Hakstol cost both Hextall and Hakstol their jobs, paving the way for Chuck Fletcher to arrive and install Vigneault as head coach, there isn’t an obvious path to a new coach for a team that has no obvious path road to respectability.

Boston would find a better way to spend 7 million rather take on Hayes imo.

You should very rarely bring anything over from the last board but this is too good.

As long as you are on this page I have no worries whatsoever cause some of your takes are so misguided I think they are musings from a 5 year old that's never seen or played a hockey game in his life.

I just have to ask a serious question. Wasn't Schenn traded well before the drafting of Patrick? Therefore, I don't understand your take at all. Perhaps my time machine is jammed, but this is why I don't understand your take whatsoever.

- Phillywhiteout

You’re completely unaware that Schenn was traded an hour after we drafted Nolan Patrick at the same draft and have the absolute gall to have a take like this?

Also the conversation you had no clue about but felt like you needed to chime in on was about the fact the Flyers are never in on young players made available by teams like Ryan O’Reilly and Matt Duchene from colorodo. Patrick and Schenn had very little to do with the conversation outside of the fact we gave up on a young player in Brayden Schenn as he was ready to peak.

Hey Bill,
Any idea where Giroux might go? I only saw parts of the Florida playoffs, but he looked pretty effective, sometimes amazingly so. Just seems like a particularly interesting situation. He plays at such a high level still that he's not yet in the 3rd or 4th line former all-star situation who might take 2 million if he's promised some power play time. But still he's slowing down. I suppose he's a second line winger, mentor, and playmaker? He can't just go anywhere, since he's not a journeyman like a Jagr or Thornton when they started down this path -- seems G wants some sense of home and continuity.
Florida doesn't have the money to keep him, even if they find a taker for Hornqvist.

I'm not sure Boston would want another high salary for what Hayes provides, plus I see Coyle filling the role Hayes would already.

Hayes has an M-NTC where he can submit 12 teams he does NOT want to be traded to. I sincerely doubt Boston would be one of those teams.

That being said.....

The more I read the more I think think he signs a team friendly deal with Florida.
